it's so radically changed and formed

of God too powerfully in my own life.

is living authentically.

Beautifully committed and surrendered to

something that doesn't stem from the Bible

Listen, everything in the Bible

relates to all ages and stages of

our children, because listen, as

we're training them, sometimes I'm

the one that needs that reminder.

joys in young moms is this quest and

zeal to raise children on the Bible.

We have to understand that.

In the natural, everyday, mundane, casual

moments of life, the natural overflow

of it is often more taught and caught

than the, let's all sit down and we're

going to read this passage of scripture.

Because children are antsy and

they're squiggly and they're

wiggly and that's basically it.

And that's how God's designed them.

But what if we did hopscotch outside

are delightfully loud and zany.

for the Lord during that?

So I think it's getting creative to exalt

God in all things, because once children,

Taste and see that the Lord is good.

They don't have an

appetite for anything else.

It's just putting him before all things,

putting him in front of all things,

proclaiming his excellency, allowing

in being forgiving, his beauty in being

steadfast versus our heart that is not.

relentlessly and passionately.

blessed by that pursuit of holiness too.

As they're pointing our kids

to him, we're being refined.

I have never been more faithful.

ones all day, every day, when I've had

character has been refined.

parenting that's so free.

I think that's the gift that we give

our children as biblical moms is they

know at the end of the day, not when

they're two, not when they're three,

we're staying steadfast, putting

our nose to the grindstone and doing

what the Bible calls us to, like

But obedience we know brings blessing and

obedience brings freedom and as they begin

to experience some of the freedom that

comes from a full surrender to him and to

his word and to his ways, like they begin

to understand why mom and dad are free.

And so that's why with Entrusted's

It starts with the Bible, it starts

with our personal walk with Him.

Because if we aren't walking in the

freedom of confessed sin, if we aren't

walking in the freedom of a mind saturated

with Scripture, if we aren't walking

in the freedom of right relationships

with every single person we are

encountering, because we know that it's

false worship to have a bad relationship

Like we're to handle that.

And as far as it depends on

us, be at peace with everyone.

our kids will begin to see.

They too desire a life free from the

anxieties and the cares of the world,

the frets of the world, the heaviness of

the world, the depravity of the world,

and pray for spiritual eyes for your

children to see that more and more with

every passing day, because that speaks

the volumes as to why would I want to

continue on in the faith of my parents?

Why wouldn't I?

It's freedom.

It's joy.

It's hard times with stability and peace.

faith that we ourselves are not modeling.

first and foremost, back to the

authority of the Word of God.

Method never trumps God's Word.

Whatever you read from people, whatever

trend is coming up in parenting,

this is nothing new under the sun.

The book of Ecclesiastes has told

us nothing's new under the sun.

Here's another wave of what

Colossians talks about human wisdom.

First of all, it does not set

you up as a parent to be the

authority over your child.

The bigger problem in that is that's

a misunderstanding of authority.

When gentle parenting, oh, you don't

want to be this authoritative figure.

Then we've misunderstood that

authority was designed by God for good.

If we've read the book of Judges,

we know, my word, authority matters.

We on our own will seek sinful ways.

Why?

Because our heart is

deceitful above all things.

Our children's hearts are

deceitful above all things.

All of us, every single human being

walking on the planet has been born with

a sin nature that seeks sinful things.

It's deceitful above all things.

That's the problem.

The good news is we have the

solution in Jesus Christ who can

transform our hearts and minds.

That being said, if we don't

understand the beauty of authority.

We won't sit under the

authority of God's Word.

As wives, we won't sit under

the authority of our husbands.

As church members, we won't sit

under the authority of our church.

Authority is a good thing.

So first of all, we have to look at

that when basically gentle parenting

saying, let your child do this.

anything too harshly.

we wouldn't speak harshly.

The Bible says, A harsh word stirs up

ourselves to that because we're

that want to parent on the Bible.

Of course, we're not

going to speak harshly.

That being said, if we think that

we can't speak to truth, then

we have aligned ourselves with

a worldview that's unbiblical.

We must train a biblical worldview

in our children that includes we have

standards and they aren't set up by us.

They are set up by God

who is our authority.

So if we don't teach our children

from a very young age that

they are under authority and

that authority is a beautiful.

Good thing we have set them up

to fail, because they will have

authority everywhere in their lives.

And can you imagine their poor boss

someday, if they haven't learned to

understand that authority is a good thing,

they might not have that job for too long.

How's it going to go in school

with a teacher if they can't submit

to the authority of someone else?

Anyone, man, woman, we are to submit

to God, we're to submit to authorities.

Submission in the Bible is

not a call to be shackled.

It's a call to freedom, order, and peace.

And gentle parenting, the biggest

problem I see with it is that

bucking of establishing yourself as

a position of authority for fear that

your children won't listen to you.

There again, as biblical

people, we don't walk in fear.

Fear has no place in a believer's

life because we are confident, because

we are standing on the inerrant,

perfect, sufficient Word of God.

So the authority issue with gentle

pairing is absolutely wrong.

The fear factor behind it, I

can't parent wondering what

my child's response will be.

We just talked about that.

I parent because I want to

glorify God and obey him.

These are his kids that he has entrusted

to me for 18 years under my home.

And then after that, however long the

Lord tarries or lets them have life,

but it's for him, it's all for him.

And so gentle parenting puts so

much power in the hands of children

and so much power in their feelings.

So that's the third part of it.

So first of all, it's the authority issue.

Second of all, it's that

we're parenting and fear.

And the third is we're parenting,

putting feelings ahead of truth.

And that's a huge problem

in our culture right now.

We have to train our children not to let

feelings be the engine of their life.

It's gotta be the caboose.

We put The truth first

and our feelings follow.

But right now our culture has completely

turned that upside down where, oh my

goodness, their feelings are everything.

Listen, feelings are real,

but they're not reliable.

Feelings also have to be

submitted to the word of God.

And what a joyful thing as

parents that we get to teach our

children how to take our feelings.

And take scripture to those feelings

and allow scripture to do what it does

best, which is transform our mind and our

heart so that we can walk out in truth.

So not all feelings are bad, we

never want to categorically

call feelings bad or good.

They are feelings.

That's what they are.

What we need to do then with our

feelings is acknowledge they are real.

But they're not reliable.

to take some Bible verses, when

If I trust in God's word, that means

there's authority in my life and

Spirit of God, our conduct and our

character needs to be of gentleness.

looking is holistically to

It's not just being a gentle person.

but this is also bringing in other things.

False Teachers are everywhere.

We're warned about them

all over in the Bible.

And moms, if you aren't in the Word of

God daily, soaking on it, marinating on

it, memorizing it, thinking on it, you

will fall prey to things like gentle

parenting that are just a degree off

of the truth of the word of God at

first glance, but you have to look at

everything and how that plays out in a

trajectory because one degree off of truth

over time turns into 10 degrees, turns

into 15 degrees, turns into 20 degrees.

We cannot allow our minds

to entertain something just

because it tickles our ears.

The Bible says if it's tickling

our ears, it's a false word.

And we need to be so cautious about that.

all of our insecurities.

Can I really take a stance of authority?

what if this means then they aren't

going to walk with the Lord and they

and they're going to hate me and I'm not

going to look cool in front of all the

other soccer moms and, all these things.

They're appealing to the flesh.

And if something is appealing to

my flesh, rather than aligning with

the Word of God, I have to take that

necessary step to cut it out of my life.

Listen, we're too quick to read

another book when We have the Bible.

Why would you come to me and say, I

don't have time to be in the Bible

can tell me about gentle parenting,

It is in our sinful nature, in our

is easy, what tickles our ears, what's

winning as a mom, what makes my days

easier so I can go get a pedicure.

That's not biblical.

We're called to high calling that.

It is hard and it is

intense, but you know what?

thinks they're awesome and thinks

There's so many wonderful songs out
